MCE clients, Dubai Polo, were victorious in the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup on Sunday 18th July against Lechuza Caracas, beating them 14-12.The team, based near Holyport, installed an Ecotrack exercise track at the end of the 2008 season and this is now the sole exercise track on the farm.
Victor Vargas' Lechuza started with a goal advantage - following Vismara's handicap change after the Queen's Cup, putting Dubai on 23-goals - but Dubai soon swept ahead, with Cambiaso, as expected, featuring prominently.
Lechuza came back strongly in the fourth chuuka, with excellent play from eight-goaler Guillermo "Sapo" Caset (now nine since this week's handicap changes) putting in the equaliser for 8-8. However Cambiaso fought back immediately, scoring twice more before the end of the chukka.
Dubai previously won the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup in 2001 and 2005 and were finalists in 2004 and 2009.
